The Department of Pathology is committed to upholding the tradition of research excellence at VCU. The driving force behind everything we do is to provide patients with the best medical care possible. Our research programs are actively engaged in pioneering basic and translational studies, furthering knowledge that directly contributes to improved patient care, and to innovative pathology and laboratory medicine clinical services. In addition to driving impactful research within our own labs, we are committed to supporting the research efforts of faculty at VCU, as well as collaborators from other institutions and the broader community who can benefit from our state-of-the-art environment. Our team includes principal investigators specializing in basic and translational research, predominantly within the Cellular and Molecular Pathogenesis division. Our faculty from the Anatomic Pathology, Molecular Diagnostics and Clinical Pathology divisions are engaged in diverse, clinically impactful research projects. This vibrant research environment provides ample opportunities for residents, fellows, post-doctoral scientists and graduate students to collaborate with faculty on both short- and long-term research projects. Colleagues interested in collaborations should contact the research service in the side bar appropriate for their work.
Prospective students interested in conducting their Ph.D., or Master’s thesis research in basic or translational science within our laboratories should apply to a graduate program through the VCU School of Medicine; please visit the VCU School of Medicine Graduate Programs page.
Prospective scientist interested in post-doctoral research training should contact the principle investigators in the laboratories here.
