Dr. Alden Chesney MD, is a graduate of the University of Havana where he completed specialty training in Laboratory Medicine in 1988.
He practiced in his native country Guyana, and in 1995 proceeded to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, for Fellowship training in Hematopathology. After a period of observership at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, he attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Centre for residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. In 2003 became the first fellow in Hematopathology at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.
After ten years in the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto, Dr. Chesney returns as an Associate Professor, and is Director of the Division of Laboratory Hematology of MCV Hospitals. He is involved in undergraduate and graduate training, and is actively engaged in collaborative research in Hematological Diseases, but remains interested in Laboratory Medicine in general.
